For a PDF menu

Your PDF menu, made for phones.

On a phone, a PDF menu means zooming and scrolling. Paste your PDF’s address: Menyu turns it into a mobile page, dish by dish, with prices.

No account. No credit card.

The address must open the file itself. It usually ends in .pdf.

I don’t have an online menu yet

PDF menus are often laid out in columns, with prices aligned on the right. Menyu reads each page as an image, so every price stays on its dish’s line.

  1. Put the PDF online

On your restaurant’s website, for example, at an address that opens the file directly. A Google Drive or Dropbox share link opens a preview page, and reading it may fail.

  2. Paste its address

Menyu recognises the PDF and reads up to 60 pages, scanned PDFs included.

  3. Every line becomes a dish

Prices, sizes and extras come across when the PDF lists them. A set menu stays one item with its full price. Allergens are only taken when your menu lists them.

  4. The QR code opens the menu page

Once you keep the menu, you fix a price in the editor and publish: no new PDF and no new QR code to print.

Crêperie Maëlvenn and its 3-page menu

The crêperie’s menu is a two-column PDF on its website. Menyu finds 41 items in 6 categories, including 4 set menus kept with their full price, and one group of extras. One unreadable line at the bottom of page 3 is flagged, then fixed in the editor. The QR code on the tables opens menyu.club/creperie-maelvenn: when a galette’s price changes, the page changes, not the table tent.

  • An online address only

The tool reads an address online. It doesn’t take files sent from your computer or phone.

  • 7-day preview

The demo stays private and available for 7 days. If you don’t keep it, it expires and the photos copied for it are deleted.

  • 3 demos a day

From one browser, and 5 from one connection, within a daily cap shared by all visitors. Pasting the same link again reopens the demo in progress.

  • Nothing goes live without you

The menu you keep stays a draft until you publish it from the editor.

  • 60 pages at most

Anything beyond is not read: check the last sections in the preview.

My PDF is on Google Drive or Dropbox. Will that work?

Not always. A share link opens a preview page rather than the file, so reading may fail. The safest option is to upload the PDF to your restaurant’s website and paste its address, which usually ends in .pdf.

Can I upload the file from my computer?

Not with this tool: it only reads addresses online. If your menu isn’t online anywhere, create your account and enter your menu in the editor.

My menu is a scan or a photo. Can it be read?

Yes, if the text is sharp. A scanned PDF is read as an image, and you can also paste a photo of your menu that is online (JPG or PNG). Check prices in the preview: a blurry line can be misread.

Why not put the PDF itself behind the QR code?

You can, but guests then have to zoom and scroll a document made for print. A mobile menu fits the phone’s width, and you fix a price in the editor without remaking the file.

Will my allergens come across?

Only if they are written on your menu: nothing is guessed from ingredients. Check them before publishing, or prepare your chart with the allergen chart generator.

My PDF has more than 60 pages

Only the first 60 pages are read. Put the core of your menu at the start of the document, or add the rest in the editor once you keep the menu.
